SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 31, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Fareon, a clinical-stage biophysics company pioneering novel therapies for brain disorders, brain injuries, and neurodevelopmental conditions, today announced a new paper posted on bioRxiv linking Fareon’s noninvasive biophysics treatment to protein markers for reduced inflammation and injury, increased repair, and lower predicted brain age.

The exploratory results provide early evidence that Fareon Restore™, which delivers Microtesla Magnetic Therapy (MMT) comfortably at home, drives measurable biological changes in inflammation and repair signaling, pathways relevant for conditions such as mild cognitive impairment, post-concussion syndrome, bipolar disorder and Long COVID brain fog. Rather than relying solely on symptoms and patient-reported outcomes to determine whether someone is improving, biomarkers identified in this study may provide important objective measures for monitoring and interpreting patient response in the future.

“These measurable biological changes align with the improvements we’ve observed clinically and offer preliminary evidence of slowing or reversing of biological brain aging in people receiving Fareon Restore therapy,” said Blake Gurfein, Ph.D., co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fareon. “By improving our understanding of why we are seeing improved cognition and mood in people who have had limited success from existing treatments, these data significantly advance our progress toward delivering noninvasive biophysics treatments that transform the lives of people living with brain disorders and begin to establish a precision medicine framework for understanding and tracking individual response to treatment.”

The paper details results of a plasma proteomics analysis embedded within a randomized, sham-controlled study evaluating MMT in adults experiencing objective cognitive impairment associated with Long COVID. Results of both studies, conducted by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, were orally presented at ISLC by principal investigator Dr. David Putrino.

“The exciting aspect of these findings is that they move beyond showing clinical improvement to demonstrating measurable biological changes that accompany recovery,” said David Putrino, Ph.D., Nash Family Director of the Cohen Center for Recovery from Complex Chronic Illness at Mount Sinai and lead investigator of the study. “For the first time, we are seeing evidence that participants receiving Fareon’s Microtesla Magnetic Therapy exhibit molecular signatures consistent with reduced inflammatory biology and increased repair pathways. While these findings require validation in larger studies, they bring us closer to understanding how biophysics may help restore underlying biological function.”

“Predicted Brain Age” was measured using OrganAge™, Vero Bioscience’s proteomic platform for measuring biological aging across individual organs. Developed at Stanford University and published in Nature Medicine, Vero’s OrganAge measures thousands of circulating proteins in blood plasma to detect organ-specific patterns of aging. In this signal study, participants receiving Fareon’s MMT treatment showed a directional reduction in Predicted Brain Age, suggesting OrganAge may detect biological responses to effective interventions.

“This is an encouraging signal,” said Paul Coletta, co-founder and CEO of Vero Bioscience. “The goal is to move from measuring age to measuring response—whether an intervention is actually changing the biological health trajectory of an organ.”

About the Study

The proteomic analysis examined more than 10,500 circulating plasma proteins collected from 30 adults experiencing cognitive impairment associated with Long COVID before and after treatment using SomaScan® high-throughput proteomics. Investigators identified selective remodeling of the plasma proteome among participants who responded to MMT, including protein signatures consistent with:

  • Reduced inflammation and tissue injury
  • Increased repair and adaptive remodeling
  • A distinct molecular response pattern associated with clinical improvement
  • Lower predicted biological age of the brain and organism using exploratory OrganAge™ modeling

About Fareon Restore

Fareon’s Microtesla Magnetic Therapy uses precisely calibrated, low intensity radiofrequency magnetic fields, delivered through a comfortable headset to activate biological pathways associated with repair and resilience—without systemic drug exposure. The therapy is administered at home, is noninvasive, and has demonstrated excellent tolerability across clinical studies.

These findings build upon Fareon’s previously reported randomized clinical trial results demonstrating improvements in working memory, verbal learning, processing speed and emotional wellbeing among participants receiving MMT. Together, the clinical and molecular data establish an increasingly comprehensive body of evidence supporting the therapeutic potential of MMT and provide additional rationale for Fareon’s upcoming RECLAIM clinical program.

About Fareon

Fareon is pioneering a new class of biophysics therapies designed to noninvasively treat brain disorders through precisely calibrated electromagnetic fields. The company’s Fareon Restore platform delivers proprietary Microtesla Magnetic Therapy (MMT) in order to activate biological pathways associated with resolution of inflammation and oxidative stress, repair, and recovery in the brain. In clinical trials, MMT has been delivered through a lightweight Fareon Restore headset connected to a tabletop console.

Working alongside leading academic and clinical collaborators, Fareon combines biophysics, high-content imaging and AI to systematically map how physical fields influence biology, accelerating the discovery of therapeutic signals and their translation from cellular models to patients. A public benefit corporation, Fareon is developing therapies for clinical populations where existing treatment options remain limited. The company’s lead product is intended to be administered comfortably in an outpatient or home setting and has been well tolerated in clinical studies to date.
