Hanvon Technology’s M10C II is the first device to feature the platform’s upgrades
BILLERICA, Mass., Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — E Ink (8069.TW), a pioneer and leading global developer of ePaper technology, announced the release E Ink Kaleido™ 4. The latest generation delivers improvements in color performance, brightness and contrast to support a more detailed and fluid ePaper experience. The M10C II smart ePaper notebook from Hanvon Technology, a leader in China’s eReader market, marks the world’s first end-product to feature E Ink Kaleido 4.

As ePaper applications continue to expand from eBooks to classroom and workplace environments, the content on the device is also becoming increasingly diverse, ranging from color PDFs, PowerPoint presentations and data charts to educational illustrations, science and technology reference materials and engineering drawings. Therefore, color ePaper must achieve a better balance of color, brightness, contrast and clarity to fully convey information accurately.
With its new design, E Ink Kaleido 4 supports a broader range of digital content. Compared to the previous generation, E Ink Kaleido 4 doubles its color gamut volume to more than 40K, increases white reflectance by 15%, and improves contrast by 50%. Additionally, with the introduction of new algorithms, E Ink Kaleido 4 is capable of video playback at up to 18 frames per second (FPS). These enhancements enable color ePaper to present not only text, but also images, charts, presentations and video content with greater clarity, while reducing the perception of screen graininess.
“Color ePaper needs to deliver more than simply ‘color,'” said Johnson Lee, Chairman and CEO of E Ink. “We are pleased to work with Hanvon Technology to launch the world’s first product featuring E Ink Kaleido 4, jointly expanding the applications of next-generation color ePaper across professional reading, learning and mobile office scenarios.”
Bringing Kaleido 4 to Life in the M10C II
E Ink Kaleido 4 incorporates a new oxide TFT backplane that supports higher driving voltages and faster screen refresh. Combined with Hanvon Technology’s proprietary “Enhanced Pressure Floating” technology and T2000 timing controller, it enables 27% faster page turning and scrolling on the M10C II. A redesigned front-light system also delivers clearer, more natural color reproduction.
The M10C II pairs E Ink Kaleido 4 with Hanvon Technology’s OCR, voice and AI-powered office applications, along with features such as cloud library synchronization, ripple-reduction technology, responsive third-party app scaling and optimized font rendering. For handwriting, its wireless, battery-free digital pen offers 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, while a micro-etched tempered-glass surface reduces glare and parallax and further provides a paper-like writing resistance. Together, these capabilities create a smoother experience for reading, writing, note-taking and on-the-go productivity.
“The global debut of the M10C II featuring E Ink Kaleido 4 is not simply a screen upgrade,” said Wang Jie, Vice President of Hanvon Technology. “Built around next-generation color ePaper, we have systematically optimized the display, fast refresh, handwriting, recording and AI capabilities. With the M10C II, we hope to take color ePaper beyond reading devices and into productivity scenarios such as R&D tools, professional document review, meeting records and mobile office applications.”
